Gold Award for Swansea Bay Campus

University Partnerships Programme (UPP), the UK’s leading provider of on-campus residential and academic accommodation infrastructure, has beat a strong shortlist to secure the Gold Award in the ‘Best Financial Structure’ category at the 2019 Partnerships Awards for the acquisition of Swansea Bay Campus.

The 21st running of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Awards were attended by 750 industry leaders last Thursday at the London Hilton Park Lane, with the gala ceremony hosted by comedian Kerry Godliman.

The Bay Campus entry was submitted by UPP, with the acquisition having required a complex, innovative and tailored project finance structure. The transaction was delivered through the utilisation of a ‘debt overlay’ – a first within the sector. The deal also represented UPP’s first acquisition of a portfolio of campus residences.

UPP Projects Managing Director Andrew Percival said: “This Award is testament to the innovation and tenacity of our Asset Finance team and I am delighted that this capability has been recognised against the very best in the industry. Very many congratulations to Simon Boorne (pictured holding the Award) and his team.”

The Partnerships Awards is the biggest and most prestigious networking event in the industry calendar. The international event brings together key decision-makers from the public and private sectors to acknowledge and reward outstanding achievements in PPP.
