Students move into three new UPP schemes in Exeter

Residents have moved into 985 rooms across three new student accommodation schemes developed by University Partnerships Programme (UPP), the UK’s leading provider of on-campus residential and academic accommodation infrastructure, for long-standing partner the University of Exeter.

UPP has designed, built and financed the schemes, which it will now operate through a full facilities management service, with the projects developed by contractor Vinci Construction UK Limited.

Phase one of the £139.7 million East Park project provides 604 high-quality bedrooms on the University’s Stratham Campus.

When phase two completes in September 2021, the overall project will have delivered 1,182 high-quality bedrooms, comprising a mixture of standard, en-suite and enhanced accessible bedrooms. East Park is the largest build of on-campus accommodation at the University since 2012 and on completion UPP will operate over 4,000 rooms on the University’s campus.

Meanwhile the £41.4 million Moberly and Spreytonway schemes have also welcomed their first residents. The projects consist of 250 and 131 beds respectively, also providing a mixture of high-quality standard, en-suite and enhanced accessible bedrooms.

Mark Swindlehurst, Managing Director of UPP Management, said: “The opening of the three schemes on time and on budget boosts our portfolio to over 36,000 rooms in operation or under construction through long-term, bespoke partnerships with 15 world-leading universities.

“The schemes increase the on-campus accommodation available to students in Exeter and are testament to the strength of our bespoke, long-term partnership with the University, first formed in 2009. As a strategic partner, UPP is supporting the University’s growth strategy by providing safe, secure and affordable accommodation and the best student experience.”
