Meet the UPP onsite team

I’m a receptionist at UPP in Broadgate Park in Nottingham and I’ll normally be one of the first people you will meet when you move in on campus.

You will normally find me in reception and will be your first point of contact. You can come see us at reception for a number of queries including making complaints, raising maintenance requests, checking in and checking out , issuing key loans, processing keys and parking permits. You can also talk to us about wellbeing and financial questions, and we’ll be able to point you in the right direction for dedicated support and experts. But don’t be afraid to come to us if you have any other questions or issues whilst living in accommodation.

All the reception and support staff tend to play a big part in making sure you’re happy and have the experience you expected when moving into campus accommodation. We have a ResX team who are dedicated to creating fun, social events and we work with the UPP Student Experience team to ensure we’re holding events you’ll enjoy. You’ll be able to find out what’s on at your campus on the Home at Halls app.

I really love my job and I love to see the positive difference we make to student’s lives and experiences whilst at university and in UPP accommodation.

As a Facilities Management Assistant that works in the receptions at Leeds Beckett you are likely to see me a few times a week!

I graduated not too long ago, so I can relate to what you’re going through and understand what it’s like to live in student accommodation and the pressures, queries and questions you have when you’re away at university for the first time.

I’ll be able to help you with a number of queries or questions you have including managing complaints, parcel collection, checking students in and out, managing maintenance jobs. You can also speak to me about non-accommodation issues such as studies, wellbeing and even finance – even if I’m not able to help you I will be able to help I’ll find the right person who can.

My role as a Receptionist at Hull means students will see me very regularly as I end up being their first point of contact when it comes to collecting post, logging maintenance issues, issuing key cards to residents and liaising with the university security staff to assist students on urgent matters, as well as much more!

I’m always on hand to help students and I love the fact that my job is to support them and provide solutions to their problems. I am working in the reception during the daytime and early evening and anything that a student logs with me during my hours is handed over to the night team so nothing is ever missed, and the problem will always be handled.

I work with the maintenance, cleaning, management and university security team; who like me and my fellow reception colleagues really do enjoy helping students and want to provide the best service possible to ensure students are happy. This hopefully then sets students up for a positive experience whilst they are living with us and once they leave our accommodation it sets them up for future journeys they will take.

From the day you move in, to the day you leave your accommodation the reception staff are on hand to help you. You may end up seeing us every day as we like to walkaround the accommodation, making sure everyone is okay and if not, finding a way to solve their problem.

Don’t be afraid to talk to any of the support staff here at UPP, this includes the reception team, the cleaners, maintenance, security and the health and safety team – you’re not alone and we’re always ready to listen and support you. There isn’t a problem we won’t try to solve; this includes Uber Eats being able to delivery to halls! If your parents ever worry or feel concerned, you can always put them in touch with us and we will happily reassure and answer any questions they may have.

As a Mechanical and Electrical Supervisor, you will see me and my team regularly around campus. Our main job is to fix any mechanical and electrical issues onsite during your time as a UPP resident you will no doubt see us in your accommodation solving a problem. We’re always happy to help and don’t be afraid to talk to us whilst we’re working or even offer us a cup of tea 🙂

We will always do our best to get in touch or examine the problem within a few hours of the issue being logged either in the Home at Halls app or at reception. Whilst we’re there let us know if there are any other issues, no matter how small, and we’ll solve them too. We’re here to make your stay as easy as possible – don’t be afraid to ask for help – whatever the issue!

I’m always around Carnegie Village and happy to talk to students, to discuss any problems or just have a general chat. My role as Management Assistant means that my focus is on ensuring that the accommodation is meeting student expectations and if any issue arises then it should be solved in the quickest time possible.

I manage the student experience programme for Carnegie Village so I’m always eager to listen to students and understand what they want to see from the events on campus, why they’d attend and how regular they should be.

I love my job because of the relationship the site team has with students, and it makes our work worthwhile when see happy students whose expectations have been met and are having the university experience on campus they expected.
