Reading University’s student village is proof of UPP’s ability to provide property solutions that exactly match the requirements of our university partners. Situated around a landscaped meadow and pond, and featuring an 18th century farmhouse, the residence has achieved 100% occupancy since it was opened in the summer of 2000.

University of Reading

In December 2008, UPP signed a deal with Reading University to extend leases on both the Student Village and St George’s residences until October 2050, supported by a multi-million pound funding agreement with Barclays Bank. The deal also involved extending the maintenance/lifecycle fund and the facilities management contract at the university.

Reading St George’s Hall, completed in 2004, is the most recent development resulting from the partnership between the University of Reading and UPP. The scheme comprised 245 rooms and an estate transfer which led to the additional refurbishment of 190 rooms. This deal will enable the university to drive funds into other facilities, to the ultimate benefit of their students. Reading St George’s Hall is located in picturesque surroundings overlooking the university sports ground and is just a few minutes’ walk from most of the academic campus. This site also features a common room, bar and computer room with links to the university network.
