Working closely with architect David Morley and developer Laing O’Rourke, as well as UPP, Loughborough University is realising its vision of providing surroundings for its students that truly inspire them, while at the same time, supporting the university’s continuing success in the UK Higher Education sector.
The first phase of a £60 million project to provide new student accommodation at Loughborough University was completed in May 2009. As part of the deal construction, operational, asset and demand risk will be transferred from the university to UPP, and 1,300 new bedrooms will be delivered in a mix of four-and five-storey buildings.
The largest such scheme undertaken by Loughborough to-date, it is set to provide the university with a competitive edge with which to attract prospective students in an increasingly competitive market. The aim is to create a space that will help students feel part of a network of peers, enabling them to immerse themselves in the student experience. The university’s service delivery arm, imago, provides the soft services to the accommodation and its resident students and UPP Residential Services (URSL) deliver the hard facilities management provision.
