Students
Starting university is exciting – and a bit daunting. For most students it is the first time they have lived away from home and finding the right place to live is crucial: it can make those first few weeks the best ever – or ruin them completely. House hunting in a strange town or city is not a prospect most students or their families would welcome. For first year students, those from outside the UK, and parents, university provided housing on campus is a welcome guarantee that poor quality accommodation is one thing they don’t have to worry about.
In partnership with universities, UPP designs, builds and manages a wide range of room types that offer students stylish living space at an affordable price. UPP student residences include en suite and studio rooms, ‘cluster’ rooms arranged around a central living space and rooms designed specifically with the needs of students with disabilities in mind. Utility bills, TV and the cost of an internet connection are normally included in the rent. UPP provides local teams to deliver on-site services such as reception, and cleaning, while students deal direct with their own university accommodation service to negotiate rental and licence arrangements.
Students and their families will also be pleased to hear that at UPP we take personal safety and security seriously. So seriously in fact, that our new student accommodation at Lancaster University has won a ‘Secured by design’ award from the Association of Chief Police Officers. Students at Lancaster and at our other sites can be confident in the knowledge that UPP-designed and managed housing promotes safety through everything from layout to landscaping.

This arrangement will mean that quality and standards will remain high but at the same time the university will be able to invest in other areas.
