Transaction Types

UPP offers a wide range of solutions to our university partners:

New campus infrastructure: We design, build and operate student accommodation and academic facilities, managing the entire project from drawing board to delivery. We work with the UK’s best construction companies to ensure delivery on time and on budget. UPP provides bespoke campus infrastructure to suit the individual needs of our partners, from student roomsto lecture theatres and from leisure facilities to Eco Residences – UPP’s innovative and award winning model of sustainable student accommodation.

Estate transfers: UPP will transfer part or all of a university’s existing residential estate and manage it on our partner’s behalf, typically for a period of between 40 to 50 years. This benefits the university by transferring operational risk to UPP and may also generate a capital receipt which can be used to invest in core teaching and research provision. Transferred stock will often be subject to refurbishment, improving the student experience and ensuring that demand for accommodation remains sustainable in the longer term.

Asset management: URSL provides its university partners with a complete campus infrastructure asset management service that includes hard and soft facilities management (FM), marketing and revenue management. Local teams provide all on-site services, from building maintenance to security and cleaning. For universities, our asset management services provide an opportunity to reduce and fix the cost base for FM provision across their entire estate and improve the quality of service delivery.
