Whether looking for the right funding solution, or assessing our local and wider environmental impact, long-term sustainability is key to the way we do things.
The way we design our partnerships; carefully aligning our interests with those of our partners, means our solutions, products and funding are always sustainable, stable and fit for the long term.
The needs of our partners and their environmentally conscious residents have helped us to lead the market in the development of environmentally sustainable student housing and services, reducing C02 emissions in construction and saving energy during operation.
A template for sustainable living
In partnership with Lancaster University and Professor Avi Friedman, at The School of Architecture at McGill University we created a new template for student living, that was not only 30% more efficient than typical university developments, but also one that provided a physical environment in which Lancaster University students could learn to live more sustainably.
Real time energy management technology and an innovative approach to construction has helped students understand their impact on the environment and help them to adopt greener approaches to living which they will take with them into adult life.
Eco-Residences are now in operation at five of our university partners, and the technologies they utilise are helping all of our partners to change student behaviour, encouraging recycling and reducing energy use and waste on campus.
How do the Eco-Residences work?
Originally developed for the exacting needs of Lancaster University and its students, the Eco-Residence is now a template that has led to changes in the way student accommodation is delivered across the HE sector.
