Partnership
UPP’s unique business model is based on creating a true partnership where both parties continuously benefit. Property transactions are funded off balance sheet, at no cost to the university. Leases typically last up to 50 years. University partners then receive full ownership of the property, which is guaranteed to be in excellent condition even after many years’ occupation. A special purpose company is set up for each scheme: in several cases the university is an equity stakeholder thereby retaining a sense of ownership over the project – and benefitting financially from its success. Eco Residences
UPP’s Eco Residence construction model represents a giant step forward in the provision of sustainable student accommodation. By using off-site manufacturing methods to produce timber-framed buildings from renewable sources, UPP is able to reduce the carbon footprint of each build by 30%. This innovative system, plus a range of energy and water saving technologies, all add up to a BREEAM/eco homes ‘excellent’ rating – and high quality student housing at no cost to the university.
